Café Waffel, Railway station café in Miltach, Germany.
Café Waffel is located in a restored railway station building and offers both indoor seating and a large outdoor terrace with about 80 covered seats. The café also houses an integrated waffle production facility where visitors can purchase freshly made waffles directly.
The Otto Beier Waffelfabrik acquired the empty railway station building in 2014 and transformed it through complete renovation into what exists today. This conversion brought a forgotten location back to life and gave it renewed purpose.
The location preserves memories of train travel by featuring a restored Mitropa dining car where 40 people can sit, just as passengers once did when traveling by rail. This historic car brings back how people experienced meals during their journeys across Germany.
The best access is through the main entrance of the former railway station building, and the spacious terrace provides plenty of room even on busy days. Check opening times before visiting, as these may vary by season.
What stands out is that visitors can buy fresh waffles directly from the adjacent production facility and watch them being made. This direct connection between factory and café creates a memorable experience that sets it apart.
