Moonshiner, Speakeasy bar and Italian restaurant in 11th District, France
Moonshiner is a hidden cocktail bar and Italian restaurant located on rue Sedaine in Paris's 11th District. The venue combines a whiskey-focused bar section with an Italian restaurant called Da Vito occupying the same space.
The establishment opened in May 2013 and was designed to recreate the speakeasy bars of the 1920s. The vintage leather furnishings and antique record players throughout reference the illegal bar culture during Prohibition.
The name refers to illegal distillers from the Prohibition era, and the hidden bar section reflects this historical connection. Visitors experience a setting that recalls the underground culture of that time.
Access to the bar requires entering through the Da Vito pizzeria and finding the hidden door in the storage area. The venue opens daily in the evening and operates into the late hours.
The bar features a separate smoking room distinct from the restaurant area, which is an authentic detail of the speakeasy design. This spatial separation reinforces the feeling of stepping into a separate space.
