The Dharmawangsa
The Dharmawangsa is a luxury hotel in Kebayoran Baru with a quiet, residential feel rather than a grand lobby atmosphere. The building showcases designer Jaya Ibrahim's work, featuring warm woods, symmetrical layouts, and traditional details that resemble a large private residence.
The hotel opened in 1997 as part of Rosewood Hotels before becoming independent in 2005. Designed by Ibrahim, it reflects his approach of blending Javanese tradition with contemporary comfort and calming aesthetics.
The hotel's name draws from Javanese heritage and culture. Indonesian craftsmanship appears throughout, from ancient relief reproductions to batik textiles, creating a sense of connection to artistic tradition and local identity.
The hotel sits about three kilometers south of the business district in a quiet neighborhood with trees and less traffic than central Jakarta. It offers parking, reliable Wi-Fi, and secure access typical of luxury hotels in the city.
Guests can enjoy a traditional herbal drink called jamu in the Majapahit Lounge if their room is not immediately ready. This small detail shows how the hotel weaves Indonesian hospitality into everyday moments.
