The former Melrose Diner site at Snyder and Passyunk Avenues is now a vacant lot following the restaurant's demolition in 2023. A six-story residential building with 94 units and ground-level restaurant space will be constructed here.
The diner operated at this intersection from 1956 to 2022, serving the neighborhood for over 60 years. A kitchen fire ultimately caused its closure and led to the building's demolition.
The location held meaning as a gathering place where neighbors met at all hours and shared moments together. Memories of meals and celebrations here still connect the community to this corner of the city.
