Mustion Linna
Mustion Linna is a historic manor house in Svartå, Finland, built between 1783 and 1792, set beside the Mustio River with surrounding English-style gardens. The main wooden building is one of Finland's largest secular timber structures and features Gustavian-style interiors with detailed wood floors and period furnishings.
The manor was built during the transition from Rococo to Neoclassical style, reflecting this architectural shift in its design. In the early 1900s under owner Hjalmar Linder it became culturally significant, hosting celebrated guests including composer Jean Sibelius.
The name Mustion Linna comes from Swedish, meaning Mustio Manor. Today the estate serves as a place for romantic occasions and personal celebrations, reflecting its role in creating memorable moments for visitors.
The estate offers various room types from single rooms to cottages and welcomes both day visits and overnight stays in a historic setting. The on-site restaurant serves local dishes made from regional ingredients, and the gardens are accessible year-round for walks.
A special room is the King's Room, where Swedish King Gustav III and Russian Tsars Alexander I and Alexander II once stayed during their visits. This room reflects the estate's historical importance as a place of international standing and royal interest.
