Eaton's Beach Sandbar & Grill, American restaurant by Lake Weir, Marion County, US
Eaton's Beach Sandbar & Grill is a two-story restaurant on the shore of Lake Weir in Marion County, Florida. The upper floor opens through wide glass garage doors onto a terrace overlooking the water, while the lower level sits right on the sandy beach.
The site was opened in 1924 by Jay Eaton, a world champion bicycle racer, as a beach resort inspired by Coney Island. The restaurant that stands there today carries his name forward.
Chef Dave Del Rio develops a fusion cuisine that brings together flavors from Florida's Gulf Coast and Louisiana traditions, using fresh ingredients sourced nearby.
The restaurant is in Weirsdale and is easiest to reach by car, as it sits along the lakeshore outside the town center. Guests arriving by boat can tie up directly at the dock.
The lower level runs as a self-contained beach restaurant with its own bar and kitchen, not just an overflow area from the floor above. This means the two levels offer different menus, so what you order depends on where you sit.
