Pikec
Pikec is a restaurant located on a small semi-island called Baračka in the Danube waters in Serbia's West Backa region. Operating since 1950, it serves fresh fish dishes, smoked specialties, fish paprikash with homemade noodles, meat preparations, and desserts in a natural riverside setting.
The restaurant was founded in 1950 and is Serbia's northernmost fish restaurant on the Danube. Located within the Gornje Podunavlje Special Nature Reserve, it developed over decades as a destination for anglers and travelers.
The name Pikec comes from the local fishing tradition for pike in the nearby waters. The area is shaped by anglers who share their experiences and form a community that values nature and patience.
The restaurant is accessible by car or bike via simple roads and lies near the international Danube cycling route EuroVelo 6. Bring comfortable clothing, as the Danube water level can change by several meters, and the shoreline is sometimes reachable directly from the terrace.
On some evenings Thursday through Saturday, a traditional tambouritza orchestra performs, creating a lively family-friendly atmosphere. Overnight accommodations are available in simple comfortable rooms with four beds, as well as the nearby Baracka Villa featuring a barbecue area.
