Five-country Biosphere Reserve Mura-Drava-Danube

The reserve extends over 1 million hectares along 700 kilometers of the Mura, Drava, and Danube rivers, forming a network of wetlands and floodplains.

Ministers from five nations established this conservation area in 2016, merging individual protected zones into Europe's first international five-country biosphere reserve.

Local communities along the rivers maintain traditional fishing practices and agricultural methods that have shaped the regional identity for many generations.

Visitors can access numerous marked trails, observation platforms, and educational centers throughout the reserve to observe wildlife and learn about river ecosystems.

The reserve houses Continental Europe's largest concentration of breeding white-tailed eagles and serves as a crucial rest stop for 250,000 migratory waterfowl yearly.
