La Salita de Begoña Rodrigo
La Salita de Begoña Rodrigo is a restaurant set in a historic 19th century house in the Ruzafa neighborhood, featuring white walls, wooden windows, and original hydraulic tile floors and ceilings. The dining room is simply decorated with wood and wicker pieces that create warmth, while abundant natural light flows through the windows to brighten the entire space.
The building dates to the 19th century and holds heritage protection status in Valencia. The restaurant relocated to this location in 2020 after Begoña Rodrigo spent time observing the property before deciding to establish her cooking project there.
The restaurant's name reflects Begoña Rodrigo's cooking philosophy centered on Valencia's regional ingredients and traditions. The simple interior with white walls, wooden windows, and natural materials makes visitors experience the connection between this space and the local agricultural heritage of the region.
The restaurant is open Monday through Friday for both lunch and dinner, while remaining closed on weekends. On weekends, the garden space transforms into a more casual area called L'Horta al Nú, where visitors can enjoy simpler local dishes in a relaxed setting.
The restaurant features a small hanging forest suspended from the ceiling with plants from the nearby Sot de Chera region, which reminds Begoña of her childhood in the Valencia area. This installation connects her early memories of summer visits to her grandparents' home, where she helped harvest tomatoes and peaches to preserve, experiences that deeply shape her cooking today.
