It grew from modest beginnings in the mid-20th century, taking advantage of the bay's natural beauty and its historical connection to sea turtles.
The name comes from the bay where sea turtles were once spotted. Visitors can join in cultural activities like hula lessons, lei making, and ukulele classes that showcase local traditions in a hands-on way.
The resort is about one hour drive north of Honolulu International Airport and accessible by rental car or local transportation. Staff can help arrange tours and activities to make your stay enjoyable and well-organized.
The resort served as a filming location for the movie Forgetting Sarah Marshall, with scenes shot on the grounds, adding a layer of Hollywood appeal to the property. This connection makes it interesting for film fans to explore these familiar backdrops.
