Tomukun Noodle Bar
Tomukun Noodle Bar is an Asian restaurant in downtown Ann Arbor with dark wood seating and simple lighting throughout. The kitchen prepares homemade broth daily that takes about ten hours, served with fresh Japanese noodles and toppings including roasted pork belly, crispy chicken, duck, and seafood options.
The restaurant was founded to create a connection to Korean culture and childhood food memories. Founder Tom Yon and his business partner Dan, his younger cousin, operate the restaurant together like brothers.
The restaurant was named after a nickname its founder Tom Yon received during his time in Japan. The space reflects his desire to share Korean food traditions and childhood memories of noodles with the local community.
Food can be ordered to eat in, to take out, or delivered, making it convenient for guests in a hurry. Each bowl contains plenty of noodles and many guests take leftovers home, so leaving food on the plate is completely normal here.
Tempura shrimp buns are a popular starter featuring crispy fried shrimp, spicy mayo slaw, and fresh lime. Each chef prepares the broth using their own secret recipe, which means the flavor profile can vary slightly depending on when you visit.
