Lasagna House III
Lasagna House III is an Italian restaurant in Houston featuring brick walls, red-checked tablecloths, and curved booths that encourage conversation. The menu offers over one hundred dishes, mostly homemade and prepared using traditional Italian recipes, including eggplant Parmigiana, gnocchi, and Chicago-style beef sandwiches.
The original Lasagna House was established in Chicago in 1942 by Pete Pizzo, a Sicilian immigrant. After changing hands several times, Matt Vernon and his wife took over the Houston location in 2013, and the restaurant has continued operating despite a fire requiring closure and later damage from Hurricane Harvey.
The restaurant embodies the spirit of Italian family dining through its focus on homemade, hearty food and genuine personal connections between staff and guests. The brick walls and checkered tablecloths evoke a traditional family table where comfort and familiar flavors matter more than contemporary trends.
The restaurant is located near Cypress Creek Parkway and is easy to find by watching for the sign. The atmosphere is relaxed with friendly service, and reservations are recommended especially for busy times or special occasions.
The restaurant draws longtime customers who know the staff by name and are greeted with warm gestures like hugs upon departure. This personal connection and the continuous presence of regulars over many years transforms each visit into a gathering with old friends rather than a simple meal out.
