Casa de Campo Resort and Villas
Casa de Campo Resort and Villas is a large resort property on the southern coast of the Dominican Republic with 247 guest rooms and 50 private villas spread across an expansive green landscape. The property includes eight restaurants, seven bars, three golf courses, a spa, tennis courts, an equestrian center, and direct beach access, all connected by pathways and accessible by golf cart.
The resort opened in 1974 as a private luxury retreat and was acquired by the Fanjul family in 1983, marking a turning point in its development. Architect Oscar de la Renta contributed to the interior design, giving the buildings their distinctive character and natural style.
The resort connects with the local community and serves as a meeting place where different cultures gather. The nearby village of Altos de Chavon showcases Mediterranean-style architecture with warm colors and stone buildings where visitors explore art galleries and discover local craftsmanship traditions.
Golf carts are available to navigate the large grounds, making it easy to move between facilities and accommodate varying fitness levels. Bring light clothing, sunscreen, and stay hydrated in the tropical climate, as shade is available throughout the property but midday sun can be intense.
The acclaimed golf course Teeth of the Dog was designed by Pete Dye and ranks among the best in the Caribbean, featuring ocean views and challenging hole layouts. The course has hosted professional tournaments and attracts renowned golfers and notable figures from around the world.
