Falkensteiner Schlosshotel Velden
Falkensteiner Schlosshotel Velden is a hotel housed in a 17th-century castle on the shore of Lake Wörthersee in Austria. The building combines historic stone walls and period details with modern rooms, large windows, and open terraces that frame views of the water.
The castle was built around 1600 by Baron Bartholomäus Khevenhüller as a Renaissance structure. A fire in 1762 caused major damage, but in 1890 businessman Ernst Wahliss rebuilt it as a hotel, which then attracted well-known guests over the decades.
The hotel's name reflects its origins as a castle that has defined the lakeside for over 400 years. Visitors today use the terraces and waterfront to watch lake life unfold and experience the slow pace of the region.
The hotel sits right on the lake shore and is easily reached from three airports, a train station, and the new Koralmbahn rail line. Visitors will find onsite parking, free Wi-Fi, and a 24-hour front desk, with pets welcome.
The hotel operates a large wellness complex called Aquapura Lake SPA with indoor and outdoor pools, saunas, and treatment rooms right beside the water. Guests can also join special yoga sessions with lake views or take boat tours with Captain Robert, making the experience memorable.
