Velden am Wörther See

Located on the western shores of Lake Wörthersee at 460 meters elevation, Velden am Wörther See encompasses eight distinct cadastral communities across 53 square kilometers.

First documented in 1263 as Campus and later as Velben in 1410, this settlement developed from a Roman road station between Villach and Magdalensberg.

The municipality maintains international connections through town twinning partnerships with Bled in Slovenia, and both Jesolo and Gemona del Friuli in Italy.

The municipal administration provides digital services through its website, offering residents access to information about local events, infrastructure developments, and community initiatives.

Schloss Velden, originally built as a Renaissance manor house in 1545 and rebuilt in 1892, gained recognition as a filming location for television productions.
