Keltenwelt Frög, Archaeological park and museum in Rosegg, Austria.
Keltenwelt Frög is an archaeological park and open-air museum in Rosegg featuring ancient burial mounds and reconstructed structures. The site displays artifacts and buildings that illustrate everyday life during the Hallstatt period between 800 and 600 BC.
Excavations between 1883 and 1892 uncovered a ruling settlement from the Iron Age on this site. The location holds one of the largest cemeteries of the southeastern Alps and records an important phase of early European development.
The reconstructed prince's dwelling shows how ruling families organized their households and managed trade networks during the Hallstatt period. Visitors can observe how craft production, commerce, and family life were interconnected in this early society.
The park welcomes visitors from mid-May through October with guided tour options available. Walking through the site involves moving across open terrain, so comfortable footwear and weather protection are recommended.
The site contains a lead ceremonial chariot recovered from ancient burial mounds, representing an exceptional discovery in European archaeology. Such elaborate metalwork was extraordinarily rare in this period and reflects the wealth of the ruling class.
