Heights of Abraham Cable Car
Heights of Abraham Cable Car is an aerial tramway in Derbyshire Dales that carries visitors to the summit of Masson Hill. Twelve cabins are attached to a continuous steel cable about 1,136 meters (3,727 feet) long, passing over five towers to climb approximately 169 meters (554 feet) in elevation.
The cable car was built to give visitors easy access to the popular viewpoint atop Masson Hill. Over the years, it became an established feature of Derbyshire Dales and remains an important part of how people explore this area.
The name Heights of Abraham reflects the local identity and refers to the high point of Masson Hill in Derbyshire Dales. Visitors experience how this vantage point has shaped the way people connect with and explore this part of the countryside.
The cable car is accessible to most visitors since no strenuous walking is needed and the ride is smooth. A base station offers ticket windows and waiting areas, and cabins can stop to allow passengers with pushchairs or wheelchairs to board or exit comfortably.
During the ride, the cabins can pause partway up, giving passengers a chance to take photos of the valley below and turning the journey into something memorable. These stops offer a quiet moment to absorb the view rather than rushing to the top.
