Gallos, Bronze sculpture at Tintagel Castle, Cornwall, England.
Gallos stands 2.4 meters tall as a bronze sculpture depicting a spectral crowned figure resting on a sword, created by artist Rubin Eynon with open spaces allowing viewers to see through its structure to the landscape beyond.
The sculpture was installed in 2016 on the site of Tintagel Castle, which was originally built in the 1230s by Richard, Earl of Cornwall, deliberately styled to appear older and connect with Arthurian legends.
Named after the Cornish word for 'power', Gallos symbolizes the broader history of Tintagel rather than representing any specific individual, connecting visitors with the mythological narratives and legendary stories of King Arthur associated with this location.
The sculpture is wheelchair inaccessible due to its cliffside location and requires helicopter transport for maintenance, with visitors needing to plan for walking access along the coastal paths of Tintagel Castle.
The installation process required helicopter transportation due to the precarious clifftop position, making it one of the few sculptures in England that needed aerial delivery for placement at its final location.
