Sidari Beach
Sidari Beach is a wide sand beach on the northwest coast of Corfu with firm, gently sloping sand and calm, shallow water. The famous sandstone rock formations of Canal d'Amour sit at the end of the main beach and feature natural arches and small caves sculpted by the sea over many years.
The area was originally a quiet village used mainly by local residents and belonged to the nearby village of Avliotes. From the late 1980s onward, local landowners decided to develop the area for tourists, leading to the construction of hotels, restaurants, and bars that transformed Sidari into a popular holiday destination.
The name Canal d'Amour refers to the distinctive sandstone rock formations scattered along the coast that resemble natural sculptures. These formations are closely tied to local stories and attract especially couples who enjoy exploring and photographing the romantic rock arches.
The beach is easily reached by car or bus with free and paid parking options nearby. The flat, paved beach area and level surroundings are accessible for most visitors, including those with mobility needs.
A local legend states that couples who swim through the natural rock arches of the canal will fall in love or have their love confirmed. This story has made the beach a preferred destination for engaged couples and newlyweds who want to celebrate special moments at this spot.
