Twin Lagoon

Twin Lagoon is a natural water attraction in Coron consisting of two connected saltwater bodies with contrasting temperatures. The warmer lagoon receives freshwater seepage from beneath the limestone cliffs, while the second remains cooler due to direct seawater circulation.

The limestone cliff formations were created millions of years ago when tectonic shifts thrust ancient coral reefs upward from the ocean floor. This geological process shaped the distinctive basins that form the two connected lagoons today.

Local Filipino fishermen maintain ancestral traditions by navigating traditional wooden boats called bangkas through the crystalline waters of Twin Lagoon.

A visit typically requires joining an organized boat tour departing from Coron town with water shoes and snorkeling gear recommended. The best exploration timing depends on tide levels, which also determine how you transition between the two lagoons.

The passage between the two lagoons happens either through a narrow underwater tunnel or up wooden steps, depending on tide levels. This unusual feature makes each visit a different experience depending on when you arrive.
