Parc Polaire, Animal park in Châtelblanc, France.
Parc Polaire is an animal park located in a mountain setting at 1,000 meters elevation where European bison, reindeer, fallow deer, red deer, yaks, and mouflon inhabit spacious open enclosures. The facility uses the natural terrain to display these animals in settings that closely resemble their wild habitats.
The park was established to protect and preserve European bison and forest reindeer through breeding programs. This work occurs in partnership with European institutions to rebuild endangered animal populations.
The park displays northern and mountain animal species living visibly in open enclosures that reflect their natural habitats. Visitors encounter mouflon, reindeer, and bison in settings that show how these creatures behave in mountain regions.
The park sits on a mountain slope with well-maintained paths running between enclosures that are accessible to visitors of varying mobility levels. The best experience comes during clear weather when visibility is good for viewing both the animals and the surrounding landscape.
In autumn visitors can observe the rutting season of red deer when males produce powerful mating calls that echo across the park. Spring brings newborn animals throughout the grounds, creating a different atmosphere of growth and new life.
