Cascade du Bief de la Ruine

The Cascade du Bief de la Ruine is made up of 13 cascading steps spread across roughly 350 meters. The water descends about 110 meters total, creating multiple drops of varying heights along its course.

An old tramway viaduct crosses the valley, showing how the region developed industrially in the 1800s. This structure reveals how people once harnessed the natural water power of the area.

The name refers to old mills that once used water from this site. Visitors can observe how the flowing water shapes the landscape and daily rhythms of the surrounding area.

You can view the waterfall from Road D127 for a broad overview, or follow hiking trail GR559A to reach the viaduct for a closer perspective. Both viewpoints give you quite different ways to experience the cascade.

One of the drops reaches about 20 meters and is the highest single cascade in the Jura Mountains. This remarkable section can be viewed from different angles, making it a memorable part of the visit.
