Cascade de la Billaude, Double waterfall in Le Vaudioux, France
Cascade de la Billaude is a double waterfall in Le Vaudioux featuring two separate drops that cascade through a narrow rocky canyon. The water flows through natural limestone formations, creating distinct vertical sections as it descends.
This waterfall became locally known as Saut Claude-Roy and became part of the Jura Regional Nature Park system. It was shaped over long periods by water erosion that continuously carved through the limestone rock.
This site holds importance in the Jura region, where flowing water has long shaped the limestone landscape and shaped local identity. Visitors can sense how nature's power has created this special place.
The site is accessible from road D279 with viewing platforms at different levels allowing safe observation of the falls. A metal staircase leads down to the base where visitors can experience the full force of the water up close.
During winter months the entire cascade can freeze solid, transforming into a massive ice sculpture that draws climbers from afar. This rare phenomenon completely changes the appearance of the site, creating an entirely different experience from other seasons.
