Golf de Chiberta, Golf course in Anglet, France.
Golf de Chiberta is an 18-hole course in Anglet on the Basque coast, stretching 5600 meters with a mix of links-style and inland design. The layout combines sandy sections with pine forests, creating varied playing conditions throughout the year.
British architect Tom Simpson designed this par-70 course in 1927 between the cities of Bayonne and Biarritz. The design took advantage of the existing natural landscape features of the coastal area from the start.
The golf course represents French sporting excellence, organizing regular competitions that unite local and international players within the Basque Country setting.
The course sits along the Route des Plages and operates year-round, with a minimum handicap requirement for all golfers. Registration at the clubhouse should happen before heading out to the holes.
Some holes play directly facing the Atlantic Ocean, while others cut through dense pine forests, giving the course unusual variety. This split between coastal and woodland scenes is rare and makes each round feel different.
