Parque Tezozómoc, Public park in Azcapotzalco district, Mexico City, Mexico.
Parque Tezozómoc is a spacious green area in the northern part of Mexico City with walking paths, sports facilities, and playgrounds. A central lake with artificially shaped hills and different zones forms the focal point of this space.
The park opened in 1982 and used soil extracted during Mexico City Metro Line 6 construction to shape its artificial hills. This ambitious project combined infrastructure development with the creation of public green space.
The park takes its name from the Aztec ruler Tezozómoc, and its layout reflects the geographical arrangement of the Valley of Mexico. Visitors experience the landscape as a miniature version of the historical region as they move through different areas.
The park is open daily to visitors and sits near two Metro stations, making access straightforward. Comfortable shoes are recommended since there are many paths and hills to explore.
The central lake features a nature reserve island where white herons, ducks, and turtles make their home. This unexpected wildlife presence turns the lake into a spot where visitors can observe nature closely.
