Parque Tezozómoc

Parque Tezozómoc is a 28-hectare green space in Azcapotzalco featuring a central artificial lake surrounded by hills, paths, and recreational areas. The grounds include sports facilities such as basketball and tennis courts, a skating rink, and a cycling path spanning around 1,200 meters.

The park opened in 1982 on the grounds of the former Hacienda del Rosario. Its naming after a pre-Hispanic ruler reflects an intention to honor the historical heritage of the place.

The park takes its name from Tezozómoc, a pre-Hispanic ruler whose memory shapes the neighborhood's identity. Its layout mirrors the geography of the Valley of Mexico, with artificial hills representing mountains and a lake evoking the former Texcoco.

The park is easy to navigate on foot with multiple entry points around the perimeter. The pathways are open and clearly marked, making it simple to find your way to different areas and activities.

The central pond serves as a home for white herons, various duck species, and harbors an island with local wildlife. This refuge for birds and animals shows how urban green spaces can sustain natural habitats.
