Praia de Ipanema, Strand in Brasilien
Ipanema is a beach in Rio de Janeiro stretching between Arpoador and Leblon. It offers roughly 2.5 kilometers of white sand along the Atlantic Ocean with a beachfront promenade where kiosks rent chairs and umbrellas.
The area began as a residential neighborhood for wealthy families in the early 1900s. It became an international destination after the release of the song 'Girl from Ipanema' in 1962.
