Ipanema stretches between Arpoador and Leblon beaches, featuring 2.5 kilometers of white sand along the Atlantic Ocean in Rio de Janeiro.
The area transformed from a residential district for wealthy families in the early 1900s to an international destination after the 1962 release of 'Girl from Ipanema'.
Different sections of the beach, marked by numbered posts called 'postos', attract specific social groups, with Posto 9 being the gathering point for artists and intellectuals.
Beach vendors walk the sand selling drinks and snacks, while permanent kiosks line the beachfront promenade, offering chairs and umbrellas for rent.
The winter months from May to September bring waves up to 3 meters high, creating excellent conditions for surfing and other water sports.
