Eagle Bay

Eagle Bay is a beach along the Indian Ocean coast within Meelup Regional Park, featuring white sand and natural rock formations that create sheltered swimming areas. The waters here are calm and clear, making the space popular for families and people seeking water activities.

A French expedition led by Captain Baudin visited the bay in 1801 while searching for fresh water supplies during their exploration voyage. A memorial was later installed to mark this historical landing point from the early colonial period.

The beach community maintains strong local involvement through its residents' association, established in 1990, and operates a volunteer fire brigade.

The beach sits about 8 kilometers from Dunsborough and roughly 250 kilometers south of Perth, accessible via a coastal road that is straightforward to navigate. Best visiting conditions occur during warmer months, and you should allow time for swimming safety and relaxation.

Despite containing many luxury holiday residences, the settlement remains sparsely occupied year-round, creating an unusual quiet character for a beach destination. This low permanent presence means the shoreline often feels more tranquil than other popular coastal spots in the region.
