Legendia Parc
Legendia Parc is a zoo located in Frossay, a small town west of Nantes in the Pays de la Loire region of France. It houses animals from several continents, including mammals, birds, reptiles, and aquatic species, spread across large open grounds with naturalistic enclosures.
The site began as a modest private animal collection and was gradually opened to the public as it grew in size and variety. Over the decades, new areas were added around the original core, which is why older and newer sections sit side by side across the grounds.
The name Legendia suggests a world built around stories and mythical journeys, and this idea runs through the way the animal areas are laid out. Each section takes visitors through a different part of the world, giving the walk a sense of moving from one place to another.
The paths are wide and easy to walk, but they can get slippery in wet weather so sturdy shoes are a good idea. The grounds are large enough to fill a full day, so arriving early and leaving time for slower sections pays off.
The park offers lodges to sleep in overnight, and some of them are positioned right next to the wolf enclosure so guests can hear and see the wolves at dawn. This kind of stay is rare at French zoos and gives the visit a very different feeling from a standard day trip.
