Zagroda Pokazowa Żubrów
Zagroda Pokazowa Żubrów is a reserve in the Mirosławiec municipality where European bison live in a natural-looking landscape with open grazing areas and wooded sections. The site includes a 100-meter elevated walkway above the animals, an observation tower, and walking trails of about 250 meters, along with an educational building with large windows for viewing during bad weather.
The reserve was established in 2012 with regional funding and completed in 2013, based on the vision of the Zachodniopomorskie Towarzystwo Przyrodnicze, a local wildlife society seeking to create a space where people could see bison directly. Lynxes were added to the facility in 2015 to expand the animal collection.
The reserve serves as a place where visitors observe these large animals in a calm setting and gain appreciation for their conservation. Families and school groups often visit to learn directly about the bison and their habitats through guided walks and educational programs.
Visitors can walk along marked trails and use viewing points during pleasant weather, and the educational building with large windows offers shelter during rain. For school groups and organized parties, it is best to book your visit ahead of time to enjoy guided tours and special educational programs.
Visitors are able to feed the animals with apples and carrots under guidance, offering a memorable chance to witness the gentle nature of these large creatures up close. This direct interaction often surprises people who expected the animals to be more distant or aggressive.
