Zdbice Military Skansen

Zdbice Military Skansen is an open-air museum displaying World War II military equipment and fortifications. The collection includes tanks, howitzers, mortars, and anti-aircraft guns arranged along walking paths that stretch across the grounds near Lake Smolno.

The location saw heavy fighting in February 1945 when Polish forces attacked German fortifications entrenched in the area. This military breakthrough represented a key moment in the advance toward the north.

The site shows how war shaped the local landscape and left marks that remain visible today. Visitors can walk through restored trenches and understand how soldiers used this terrain during combat.

The museum sits just west of Zdbice village and is accessible on foot from the main road. Parking is available near the entrance, making it easy for visitors to arrive and explore the trails.

Several of the displayed tanks and guns were left at their actual combat positions and remain there to this day. These objects tell stories through their placement and condition that textbooks cannot convey.
