Zoo da Maia

Zoo da Maia spans 2.5 hectares north of Porto, featuring designated sections for birds, primates, big cats, and marine animals across its grounds.

Founded in 1985, the facility began as a small animal collection and expanded to house over 300 specimens representing numerous species from different continents.

The educational center organizes regular programs for local schools, teaching children about wildlife conservation and animal biology through direct observation.

Entry costs 7.50 euros, with extended hours from April to October, 10:00 to 19:00, and reduced winter hours from November to March, 10:00 to 17:00.

The entrance area includes a free-access section displaying flamingos, crowned cranes, and parrots before reaching the main ticketed zoo grounds.
