Pushpa Gujral Science City
Pushpa Gujral Science City is a science center in Kapurthala, Punjab, with indoor exhibition halls, theaters, and open outdoor areas spread across a large campus. Several buildings cover topics such as space, technology, and the environment, while the grounds outside hold models and installations visitors can walk around.
The center opened in 2005 as a joint project between India's central government and the state of Punjab, with the goal of bringing science education to the wider region. Over the years it grew into one of the larger science facilities in northern India, drawing visitors from well beyond Kapurthala.
The center is named after Pushpa Gujral, a well-known advocate for education in Punjab. School groups from across the region visit regularly, making weekdays particularly lively with children moving between exhibits and outdoor demonstrations.
A full visit covering both the indoor halls and the outdoor areas takes several hours, so arriving early in the day gives you the most time. The campus has eating options and parking on site, and most areas are accessible for families with young children or visitors with limited mobility.
The grounds include a Dinosaur Park where full-scale models of different species stand outdoors among trees and paths. Walking between them gives a direct sense of how large these animals actually were, which indoor displays rarely manage to convey.
