Wonderful Nature Village, Theme park in Akiruno, Tokyo, Japan
Wonderful Nature Village is a theme park in Akiruno, Tokyo, set within the wooded hills of the Akigawa Kyuryo natural area. It features open fields, one of the largest dog runs in Tokyo, a dog pool, hiking trails, a campground, and a cafe and restaurant on site.
The site was developed as a countryside retreat for city residents seeking a natural setting close to Tokyo. Over time, dedicated facilities for dogs were added, making that the core part of the offer today.
The dog run is divided into separate areas for small, medium, and large dogs, so every animal can play safely. On warm days, the dog pool with its fountains draws crowds of owners watching their pets splash around.
The park is about ten minutes by bus from Akigawa Station, and a shuttle bus also runs from Tokyo Summerland. It closes on Thursdays, and hours can vary by season or weather, so checking ahead is a good idea.
The hiking trail on the grounds is about 1.2 miles (2 km) long and open to dogs, so pets can join their owners for the full walk. Covered sections within the dog run also mean a visit is possible even on rainy days.
