Al Khan Beach is a public beach in the Al Khalidiyah neighborhood of Sharjah, in the United Arab Emirates, set along the shore of the Arabian Gulf. The sand is soft and the water shallow near the shore, and the beach has shaded seating, umbrellas, showers, changing rooms, and volleyball courts.
The area around Al Khan was historically a fishing spot where local families gathered by the sea for generations. In recent years, the local government added new walkways, seating areas, and shaded zones to make it more welcoming for longer visits.
Al Khan Beach sits next to the Sharjah Maritime Museum and the Sharjah Aquarium, both reachable on foot from the sand. Many visitors combine a day at the beach with a stop at one of these places, which gives the area a strong connection to the sea-based traditions of the region.
The beach is open year-round and is most comfortable to visit in the cooler months from October to April, when arriving early in the morning or late afternoon helps avoid peak heat. Parking can fill up on weekends, so an early arrival is a good idea.
Al Khan Beach has its own surf school, which is unusual for an urban beach in this part of the Gulf. Beginners can try surfing, kayaking, and flyboarding right on the spot without traveling to a dedicated sports facility.
