The Kim Kwang Seok Road Entrance is the starting point of an open-air gallery street in the Daebong 1-dong neighborhood of Daegu, South Korea. The narrow lane runs alongside Bangcheon Market and is lined on both sides with murals, sculptures, and art installations.
The street was created in 2010 when local artists and the city of Daegu joined forces to honor the singer Kim Kwang-seok, who grew up nearby and died in 1996. New works have been added over the years, so the street has grown gradually since it first opened.
The street sits beside Bangcheon Market, a traditional market with many stalls, and street musicians often play the singer's songs here. Visitors walk slowly, reading song lyrics painted on the walls, and stop at small cafes with outdoor seating.
There is no parking nearby, so taking the metro to Kyungpook National University Hospital Station and walking from there is the easiest option. The street is open at any hour and free to enter, though weekends tend to attract more visitors.
This is the first street in South Korea dedicated entirely to a single singer, which gives it a special place in the country. It also appeared in a Korean TV series called 'Hyde Jekyll, Me', which brought even more visitors to the area after it aired.
