소양강스카이워크, Glass-bottomed pedestrian bridge in Chuncheon, South Korea
Soyang-gang Skywalk is a glass-bottomed pedestrian bridge over the Soyang River in the Geunhwa-dong area of Chuncheon, South Korea. It ends in a circular viewing platform, also with a transparent floor, at the center of which stands a sculpture of a mandarin fish above a small fountain.
The structure opened in 2021, making it one of the newer visitor attractions along the Soyang River in Chuncheon. Its construction was part of a local effort to draw more people to the riverfront and give them a direct connection with the water.
Many visitors line up at the end of the bridge to take photos in front of the Soyang Maiden statue. After dark, lights switch on along the structure, casting warm colors over the river below and turning an evening walk into something quite different from the daytime experience.
Visitors are required to wear protective slippers over their shoes before stepping onto the glass sections, and these are provided at the entrance in several sizes. The walkway is flat and accessible for wheelchair users, though operations can be suspended during strong winds or heavy rain.
The entry fee is refunded in the form of a Chuncheon local currency voucher that can be spent at shops and cafes in the city, which effectively makes the visit free of charge. The voucher is handed out at the entrance, so it is worth keeping it before leaving the site.
