Pont de Mouli, Bicycle bridge in Ouvéa, New Caledonia.
Pont de Mouli is a bicycle bridge that spans a sea channel connecting the main island of Ouvéa to Mouli Island. It features bright blue railings and overlooks turquoise waters with clear views of the lagoon below.
The bridge was built in 1982 and replaced the previous ferry system. It created a permanent connection between Mouli Island and the main part of Ouvéa.
Local children gather at the bridge on weekends to swim and jump into the water, making it a social meeting point for families in the area. The structure has become woven into the daily rhythm of island life and brings together people from both sides.
You can cross the bridge by bicycle or on foot while enjoying the view of the lagoon. Watching marine creatures such as mantas, rays, and turtles beneath the bridge pillars is possible throughout the year.
The bridge sits where strong currents flow between Lékiny Bay and the lagoon, creating a natural aquarium effect. This water movement makes observing fish and other sea creatures from above surprisingly easy.
