Fish Eye Marine Park, Tourist attraction in Piti, Guam

Fish Eye Marine Park is a tourist attraction in Piti, on the western side of Guam, built around an underwater observatory set over a natural hole in the reef. Visitors walk along a wooden pier above the water and look through large windows directly into the sea.

The park opened in the mid-1990s, making use of a deep natural pit in the reef formed by freshwater seeping through the ground into the lagoon. The underwater observatory was built directly over this feature, which made it possible to offer views below the surface without any diving gear.

The observatory is reached by walking along a pier, and no swimming ability is needed to enjoy the main attraction. For those who want to get in the water, guided snorkeling tours are available in the protected bay nearby.

Despite its name, the hole beneath the observatory is not a bomb crater but a natural freshwater seepage pit, where water filters through the ground from inland into the lagoon. At night, the lights from the observatory draw fish close to the windows, making a night visit feel completely different from a daytime one.
