Green Cave

The cave features emerald-colored waters created by sunlight filtering through a ceiling opening, illuminating the interior with distinctive green hues that reflect off limestone walls and create a natural underwater light show.

The cave's current appearance was enhanced during wartime when a small hole was carved into the ceiling, allowing sunlight to penetrate the interior and produce the characteristic green illumination that defines this geological formation.

Local folklore suggests that diving through the light beam inside the cave brings longevity, with tales claiming visitors may extend their lifespan up to 100 years, adding mystique to this natural wonder.

Visitors can access the cave through boat tours operating from Split or Vis between 08:00 and 16:00, with swimming and snorkeling permitted inside the spacious interior during favorable weather conditions from June through September.

Unlike other sea caves in Croatia, this formation allows visitors to climb onto rocky ledges inside and leap into the illuminated green waters below, providing an adventurous swimming experience within the cave itself.
