Roches de Basseville, Climbing site in Surgy, France.

The Basseville Rocks form a limestone cliff formation with three main vertical spurs named Muraillette, Aiguillette, and Grande Falaise.

The geological formation of these cliffs dates back approximately 65 million years, containing visible fossil layers within the limestone structure.

The limestone from Basseville Rocks was extracted and used to construct multiple regional buildings, including the Saint-Martin Collegiate Church in Clamecy.

The site features 317 climbing routes of varying difficulty levels, accessible from the parking area located on route D144.

The natural caves of the site, including the 100-meter-long Graine Cave, provide shelter to four protected bat species.
