Arcomagno

Arcomagno is a natural rock formation in San Nicola Arcella featuring two large arches carved from weathered limestone by the sea over thousands of years. The stone structure creates a small cove with a beach where visitors can swim and relax surrounded by cliff walls and rock formations.

The arch has been a favored spot for fishermen for centuries who gathered here to work and rest before it became a known tourist destination. In recent times, access restrictions and management rules were introduced to protect the natural formation from damage and overcrowding.

The name Arcomagno means "big arch" in the local language, reflecting the impressive rock formation that dominates the area. Today, the site represents a connection between traditional fishing heritage and modern coastal tourism in Calabria.

You can reach the site by car to paid parking nearby or park in San Nicola Arcella town center and take a shuttle bus to the beach. Remember that umbrellas and coolers are not permitted, dogs must be on a leash, and eating on-site is not allowed to keep the area clean.

The area was once freely accessible but was recently restricted to protect it from damage caused by rockfalls and overcrowding. Today visitors need to purchase tickets to enter, a system that helps maintain the site's safety and natural integrity.
