Kvalvika

Walbucht is a sand beach on the Moskenesøy peninsula, nestled between steep mountains and the Norwegian Sea. The water is cold and clear, while the sand is light and fine, making it easy to walk on.

The coastal area has been used by local fishermen and farmers for generations as a living space and resource. Their traditional practices shaped the landscape and continue to this day.

A visit requires a hike of about 1.5 hours from Fredvang via changing trails with several viewpoints along the way. Good footwear and weather protection are essential, as conditions can change quickly.

The sun barely dips below the horizon in summer, allowing visitors to stay active in daylight for days on end. In winter, northern lights appear over the shore and create a different but equally striking experience.
