Norton is an industrial township in Mashonaland West, situated about 40 kilometers west of Harare along the main highway toward Bulawayo. The town developed into a manufacturing hub with factories and production facilities serving the region.
The town originated in 1914 with the construction of a railway siding at the location. It took its name from a family that owned land in the area.
The town contains thirteen primary schools, four secondary schools, and one vocational institution that provide education to the growing population of 87,038 residents.
