Mariápolis Lia, Focolare Movement community in O'Higgins, Argentina.
Mariápolis Lia is a Focolare Movement community spread across approximately 50 hectares in O'Higgins with residential zones, workshops, chapels, sports facilities, and agricultural land. The different buildings and structures form a connected place where workspaces, homes, and common areas blend together.
The community began in 1968 following a land donation by Capuchin friars and was initially called Mariápolis Andrea. It later received its current name and grew into a permanent place where people live and work together.
Residents come from many different countries and religious backgrounds, sharing daily life together in this diverse community. This mix of cultures shapes how people interact and creates a space where people with different beliefs live side by side.
The grounds are walkable, with pathways connecting the different areas together. Visitors should plan time for a relaxed exploration to discover the various workspaces and common areas throughout the property.
The community produces its own furniture, clothing, crafts, and food through small local businesses. These items are made as part of daily communal life rather than primarily for outside markets.
