2021 Austrian Grand Prix, Formula One race at Red Bull Ring, Spielberg, Austria
The 2021 Austrian Grand Prix was the ninth round of the Formula One World Championship held at Red Bull Ring in Spielberg. The race consisted of 71 laps around a 4.318-kilometer circuit winding through mountainous terrain in Styria.
The event took place at the site of the former Österreichring, which opened in 1970 and underwent several renovations over the decades. Red Bull acquired the facility in 2011 and redesigned it with a new configuration and identity.
The circuit celebrates Austrian racing heritage with turns named after Formula One champions Niki Lauda and Jochen Rindt.
The venue accommodates up to 105,000 spectators with grandstands positioned to view different sections of the track and the surrounding mountains. Visitors should prepare for varying elevations and open areas that expose them to weather conditions.
Max Verstappen won for the third consecutive time at this track, and for the first time in Formula One history, two consecutive races took place at the same venue. This made the weekend an unusual moment in the sport.
