L'Ile Chambod, Riverside campground in Hautecourt-Romanèche, France
L'Ile Chambod is a campground with around 110 pitches along the Ain River, with hedges dividing different areas and wooded hills surrounding the site. Two sanitary blocks with showers, washing facilities, and a food preparation area serve the camping zones.
The campground developed after Ile Chambod was created in 1960 when the Allement dam construction changed the course of the Ain River. This newly formed island then became the site for the camping facility.
The riverside restaurant Le Carbet hosts summer concerts and local gatherings where visitors and residents meet throughout the season. These events shape how people experience the water's edge.
The site has two modern sanitary facilities with showers, washbasins, and laundry services available to guests. A separate food preparation and storage area is conveniently located near the camping pitches.
A 300-meter beach next to the campground offers swimming and water sports during summer months with supervised bathing areas. This sandy stretch becomes a gathering point for visitors during peak season.
