Château de La Cueille, Medieval fortress in Poncin, France.

The triangular castle features two remaining towers and a keep, positioned on the left bank of the Ain River near Poncin village.

First mentioned in the 13th century as a stronghold belonging to the Coligny family, the castle changed hands in 1299 when Etienne de Coligny sold it.

The castle witnessed a notable event in 1947 when Philippe de Gaulle, son of General de Gaulle, married Henriette de Montalembert at Poncin town hall.

The Poret family acquired the property in 2021 and currently works on renovations to prepare the castle for future public access.

The strategic location of the castle allowed control over the Ain River, which marked the historical border between the regions of Bresse and Bugey.
