Lou Pibou, Campground near Lac de Serre-Ponçon, Saint-Vincent-les-Forts, France.
Lou Pibou is a campsite positioned on elevated terrain at 2,800 feet (850 meters) overlooking where the Blanche and Ubaye rivers flow through mountain country. It offers swimming pools, tennis courts, specialized Coco Sweet cabins, Eco-lodges, and facilities designed for people with limited mobility.
The campground was created after Serre-Ponçon Lake was built in the 1960s as part of developing tourism facilities for the region. This development came in response to the demand for accommodations generated by the new recreational opportunities the lake brought to the area.
The site maintains relationships with local producers and allows visitors to buy regional products like bread, poultry, and Alpine specialties. These connections create opportunities to support small businesses and experience how the valley contributes to its own food supply.
The site opens daily from 9 in the morning until 7 in the evening and features activities right there on the grounds. Visitors should prepare for changing mountain weather and wear comfortable shoes to explore the elevated terrain.
The grounds feature specialized Coco Sweet cabins and Eco-lodges positioned to maximize views of Grand Morgon and Dormillouse mountain peaks. This careful placement lets guests observe the surrounding ridges directly from their accommodations.
