Camping GCU Loubeyrat is a university campsite situated on flat ground at 730 meters elevation, with 69 individual pitches separated by low hedges. Each plot has power access, and the site offers facilities including washing machines and baby care stations.
The site sits near the Fades Viaduct, a railway bridge from 1909 that received historic monument designation in 1984. This engineering landmark is illuminated during summer evenings, becoming a visual reference for the surrounding landscape.
The gathering space includes a library and fireplace where students and travelers from different backgrounds meet and exchange stories. This setup encourages visitors to connect across their varied origins.
The campground is open from mid-June through late September and provides 6-ampere power outlets on each pitch. Booking in advance is recommended, especially during peak summer months when availability becomes limited.
From the pitches, visitors have an unobstructed view of the entire Puys volcanic chain, dominated by the Puy de Dôme rising prominently to the south. This panorama of volcanic peaks is rarely visible from other nearby locations in such a complete way.
